What a fantastic month!

4-completed-squareWhat a fantastic month it has been with hundreds of CityServe volunteers rolling up their sleeves, getting  their hands dirty and making a real difference, with great feedback from across the community. A very big thank you to everyone who has been involved … and there is more to come in the weeks ahead!

We are thankful to God for our great team of dedicated and passionate volunteers that have been involved, for our Council, corporate, media and community partners that have assisted us and for the leadership of our project team leaders at each site across the region.

This weekend sees Merewether Surf Club get a much-needed makeover and this will be the sixth and final Newcastle surf club to get a CityServe transformation. Last weekend it was Newcastle Beach under the spotlight and thanks to our volunteers and a team from Newcastle Permanent Building Society the club looks wonderful! As you walk or drive along the coastline you can see the CityServe difference – with each of the iconic surf club buildings having been transformed by our project teams this year.

Last weekend there was also valuable community projects completed at Lyle Peacock Oval in Toronto and at three schools – Kahibah, Charlestown South and South Wallsend. Thanks again to the teams that were involved in each of these projects.

This weekend as well as the Merewether Surf Club project volunteers will be at work at:

  • Swansea High School
  • Callaghan College – Wallsend

For more details on these projects and how you can still get involved in CityServe in 2013 visit cityserve.com.au. Further projects are planned in November in the Toronto, Mayfield and Wallsend areas – so it’s not too late to play your part in CityServe this year.

Capturing the stories

If you have been involved in CityServe in 2013 and have pictures or stories to share then please send our team photos or stories to info@cityserve.com.au as we are keen to collect as much information as we can as we celebrate what has been achieved in 2013 and look ahead to CityServe next year.

We will be back with another update next week as we continue to serve our city in Jesus name; demonstrating our faith in action; as churches from across the Hunter unite to make a real difference!
