Lambton Public School project finished

Lambton public workers 2A huge thank you to everyone who helped out with the City Serve Working Bee on Sunday 20th October, at Lambton Public School. There were about 29 parents and children from: ANeW Anglican Church, C3 Church Victory NW and Wallsend Baptist Church. We worked together with 35 parents and children from the school.

The children soon got busy tidying up the school’s vegetable garden –  weeding, watering, planting tomatoes and also removing ivy from the front of the school. One of the CityServe volunteers is a Children’s Worker – which was a great help in keeping the kids happy and busy!

Lambton Public garden finished 2013 (Mobile)The adult volunteers worked hard weeding, pruning, tidying and mulching the garden beds around the Infants School classrooms and the office. Some large bushes were also dug out, including a rosemary hedge around the office which was replaced with something more suitable.

CityServe volunteers worked side by side with parents from the school, enjoying great camaraderie. The leader of the  P&C Grounds Committee said  that he ‘really hoped that CityServe volunteers would work together with the P&C next year’, and another parent commented that ‘wasn’t it great you brought all these City Serve volunteers along!’. The event ended with a free BBQ lunch provided by the P&C. Praise God for a harmonious and useful day!
