Toronto Churches blesses their local community

40 volunteers from 3 local churches worked tirelessly on Oct 19 to complete an estimated 3 weeks worth of painting in one day! Lyall Peacock Oval is one of the premiere sporting facilities on the western side of Lake Macquarie being home to the Macquarie Scorpions and Toronto Awaba football clubs. It was built by volunteers (originally the late Lyall Peacock in the 1960’s) and is still maintained 100% by volunteers. The Oval’s football manager Mr Allen Easter set us the task of re-painting 4 external grandstands and 350m of perimeter seating. He said he was “blown away by what we had achieved in one day”.

Great relationships have now been formed with LMCC, the footy club who cooked us a bbq lunch, the local workers club who have agreed to promote Cityserve’s efforts through their respective media outlets and of course our brothers and sisters from other churches. A date for next year will be set in the next few weeks, the hope being that more churches with lock in the date and get involved next year. Church was abuzz on sunday morning with spirits lifted for having served our community in this way. It was a great team effort!
